12 Mar Omniscope 2024.1 Rock build – What’s New
Finally… It’s time to share some big news!
We’ve been working hard behind the scenes for months, and we’re thrilled to finally tell you about the features that are going to revolutionise how you work with data. Omniscope has already enabled you to offload manual and repetitive data processing – now discover how you can delegate analytical thinking and programming!
If you prefer, you can explore all new features directly in this Omniscope project.
AI Integration
With this build, you’ll have a super-capable AI companion joining you on all your data journeys. Consult your new assistant for data analysis guidance or provide instructions for data transformation. It’s a resource you didn’t realise you couldn’t do without: it can guide you or handle tasks for you.
AI Block can help users diagnose data, make analysis suggestions, perform data transformation operations, or build custom R/Python blocks to complete analytics tasks, all while communicating in natural language.
Version Control and Collaboration
Project Revision History is your version control – the new feature makes it easy to revert to a previous version and collaborate without worrying about errors or data loss. Additionally, for audit purposes, the sidebar displays information about the user who made the changes and the timing, while the historic snapshots point to the UI location with edits (e.g. shows which blocks were edited in the workflow or which charts were added to the report)

Data Discovery and Data Model
- Here’s a small change that will make a huge difference to your data exploration experience: the new Field and Record filtering in all Workflow blocks (and Table views) will enable the analyst to quickly search and locate fields or values and navigate through large datasets.
- Basket query: a brand new way to allow the Viewer to create custom queries (using filters/selection), then explore, organise and share results
- Union queries in data model: resulting in filter [Year] = “2023” union with [Product] contains “chocolate”.

Data Visualization Enhancements
- Dynamic chart axes: Groupings / Measures and Field Choices are a quick and easy way to change how the viewers interact with the dashboard. They are empowered to change the chart configuration options while exploring the data ( in addition to filtering and selection), while reducing the number of tabs needed to deliver the insights.
- Content View’s new dynamic titles were added to reflect groupings and measure choice changes, in order to create responsive dashboard titles, which the report viewer is controlling during their exploration
- Give your reports a makeover with the new Data colouring palettes and major styling improvements. Head to Report Settings Styles to view the new options
- We have several new visualisations in our chart library: you can use Kaplan-Meier view for survival analysis (to track patients or customers), enhance project management with Gantt chart, or perform relationship analysis with Dependency Wheel.
- New Custom views: Custom HTML, X/Twitter, and new controls to set workflow parameters and execute blocks from reports.
- Plenty of new dataviz options, like sorting chart panes and tiles by a custom measure, line step, max rows in Table views, mean in box plot, and colour measure in bullet view.
- Finally – you can add thumbnail icons to your Report tabs and try different tab layouts (left/right, top/bottom) to improve navigation through your presentation

Workflow and Automation
- Project Templates: Imagine a mechanism that enables a non-analyst to drag and drop multiple data files and then be presented with a dashboard moments later… The templates empower users to instantly transform raw data into a report format, while the Omniscope workflow handles data validation, transformation, and analysis in the background. (Enterprise licence required).
- Automation improvements: Scheduler and Automation API is allowing the user to trigger workflow execution or build projects from the third party applications
- Iterative data executions with For Each block. The ultimate time-saver for those creating output variations and having to execute workflow for every parameter value from the list. Deploy the new block: feed it a list of parameters then watch: it will run through the repetitions with a smile.
- Survival Analysis Block – those in the medical research field or analysts looking at the customer churn now have a chart (Kaplan-Meier) and an accompanying workflow block that will calculate Kaplan Meier parameters for the visualisation.
- Data Profiler block: this data detective is a must when handling new data – it will provide vital statistics for your dataset, with data types/ functions, null values count, z-score for each numeric field and find data anomalies. All super-useful to know before deciding whether to clean or trust the data in front of you!

Data Connectivity
- New connectors for Yahoo Finance, Trello, Jira, Flipside, Dune analytics and Hubspot.
- Improved Snowflake integration and support
Access and Authentication
- For smoother collaboration and reporting sharing we’ve improved integration for OpenID / Auth0.
- Report sharing introduces a new sharing experience using account emails authentication
User Interface Enhancements
- Report Styles: see Omniscope’s Dark mode (applicable to both workflow and report), Themes and fully customisable whitelabel UI
- Those dealing with JSON/XML files will appreciate the improved File block’s UX
Miscellaneous Enhancements
- Projects page improvements: filter resources by type and Virtual roots per folder – ability to add project shortcuts on the projects page
- Report data model handling: Live Append and improved Live Join in Report Data Sources. This option will allow multiple sets of filters to create data subsets then append or merge the results. Quite powerful in what-if analysis.
- Markdown support throughout the app
- Layout improved UX for multi-page document reports
- Report scaling slider
- Print report to PDF now shows a dialog to set page size
Use cases / Data solutions
Thanks to all these new features, you can now build your own products and data apps on Omniscope, fully whitelabeled if you want.
For instance, a self-service data explorer app allows your end users to upload files, automatically configure and execute data workflows, and build / deploy reports. Alternatively, it enables them to switch project parameters to refresh analyses and reports directly from the Report UI.
Your feedback lights our way—straight, no chaser. Let’s keep shaping Omniscope together.
Check our app changelog. New features land daily. No fluff, just progress.
With love, #TeamVisokio
