03 Sep Omniscope 2024.2 Rock Build
During this busy summer, we’re making your work more enjoyable!
Viewers can dive deeper into reports with new tooltips and chart drill–downs, while analysts can offload manual tasks thanks to enhanced data processing automation and project release management.
Remember, with Omniscope, it’s not just about adding a new button or option – we are constantly striving to deliver everything you need to stay ahead of the curve and achieve your goals with a smile.
Allow the automation to reach a zen level with the Scheduler app innovations – mass publishing of customised outputs can be managed effortlessly.
(“Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!”)
On that note – have you tried talking to your AI Block (this year’s new arrival)? Ask for analysis suggestions or delegate tasks, such as R or Python coding. The unassuming block in your workflow can do some heavy lifting and thinking for you.
An interactive Report showing what’s new is available here. Otherwise, grab a coffee and read (or watch videos!) to see what’s in store for you in the new Rock.
New in Data Viz: Tooltips in Charts with Drill-downs
Layered media has arrived! New tooltips in Bar, Line, Area, Pie, Map, and Table allow you to layer and customise tooltip pop-up appearance using charts, dynamic text content, or rich media. Viewers will appreciate the new drill-down options; images and information that appear when they click or hover over the charts.
Aggregated table charts
For those situations when your audience wants tables and you want to use the Bar or Line charts – create a chart inside the Aggregated table cells.
Combine it all with new value abbreviations to create a smart data summary in your report. Watch video
More dataviz controls
In time series comparison scenarios, improved Line view layering options allow you to focus on what matters with the custom layer number limit, custom layer order measure, and the option to hide the ‘Other’ line. If you have hundreds of products in the range, but want to always have a snapshot of your Top 10 this is a way to go – no calculation needed. Watch video
New normalisation options – easily harmonise axes for paned / tiled charts or allow each pane to have their own independent axis range.
AI Block Updates
Have you already deployed the AI Block to help you with some practical data tasks or allowed it to write Python code based on data inputs connected in the Omniscope workflow? The new Rock version includes compatibility with GPT-4o and added Azure OpenAI integration, so you can continue to utilise the latest in AI technology. Watch video

Projects Release Management – Reach Automation Zen!
- Just like footballers warm up before a match, the “Warm-up reports” action will ensure your data hits the ground running, optimising performance and making it querying-ready.
- Synchronisation between the staging and production environments can be done while you sleep with Working Copy actions (Push/Pull/Detach) for scheduler tasks.
- Multi-Project action: Execute tasks on multiple projects inside a target folder (refresh 100 customers’ projects in one go with a single task!).
- Efficiency is the word! Utilise app-wide parameters in the scheduler task configurations to centrally manage setting switches in multiple locations (e.g., change the publishing folder)
Read about the Project release management – where these features fit into the bigger picture.
New Scheduler UI – Search Actions and Group Tasks
- Group tasks: Improved task list page grouping and ungrouping are lifesavers when you have hundreds of jobs lined up for execution.
- Quickly find Scheduler tasks, actions, or setting components at any level with the new Search functionality.

Data Workflow and Data Sources Additions
- Reconciliation instant solution: the new Compare block can examine two datasets and detect differences in data schema or cell values.
- Data modelling got easier with ‘Rule-based field pickers‘ in Pivot, Aggregate, and Compare blocks – you can define logical and flexible field selection rules to deal with variations in field schemas. The settings will let you create change-tolerant workflow configurations, where the fields can be chosen according to filter rules, such as all numeric fields, field name containing “price”, etc.
- Database and Query Support: test faster live query support for Databricks or use Google Drive in the Batch append folder block.
As always, you can test the new Omniscope on our demo cloud server, and let us know what you think!
